When you are in to some travelling to Turkey, you might as well have the image of the country in mind. In order for you to find your bearings, you should at least be knowledgeable about the topography and weather in Turkey. This will help you a lot as you travel in to this country.
Turkey can be found around the boundaries of Asia and Europe. It has a rectangular shape and has an area of approximately 1600 kilometers. Asian Turkey takes up around 97% of the country while European Turkey can be found near the Black Sea. The country is encircles by seas on three sides: the Aegean Sea is the west, the Mediterranean at the south and the Black sea on the north.
These water forms affect the weather in turkey over time. This rings true for land forms as well. Turkeys varied landscapes are a culmination of the Earth's movements over thousands of years. This country experiences earthquakes and volcanic eruptions from time to time.
Turkey mostly has a Mediterranean climate therefore they experience dry summers and mild to cool wet winters. Along the coastal areas at the north, you will find that they have oceanic climate with warm wet summers and cool to cold wet winters and a lot of precipitation.
Along the west area of Turkey, they experience transitional weather. It can range from warm to hot and moderately dry summers to cool and cold wet winters. It somewhere borders between a Mediterranean climate and an Oceanic climate. During winter, snow falls down on the land but it just lasts for a few days. Around the south though, snow is really rare.
You will find much arid conditions inland. With the mountains preventing the Mediterranean weather to reach inland, they experience harsher conditions making the weather in Turkey sharply contrasting.
From July to August are the driest weathers and May has the wettest ones. So, pack your bag with things for the hottest and coldest climate in preparation for the weather in Turkey!
