Parents find themselves with a lot of preparations to make when they're expecting a new baby. Parents have to decide on swings, cribs, car seats, strollers and other items that their new baby will need. One of the most difficult of these decisions is choosing a baby stroller. There are so many different styles and so many brands to choose from that it can be tough to figure out which is the right one for your child. However, there are a couple things to keep in mind as you search which can help you choose wisely.

Safety is the most important consideration. What you need is something to get your baby from point A to point B in a safe manner. Considerations like storage space and other features should be secondary to safety, which should always come first and foremost. Any stroller you choose for your child needs to be sturdily constructed and not fold or collapse easily. You should check the weight limit that the stroller is rated for to make sure that it will be capable of carrying your baby as well as any items you may want to carry in its storage area, if any.

Just as with a car seat, your baby will be traveling in the stroller. Therefore, proper five-point harnesses are a must for young infant. Older babies may be suitable for the three point harnesses under certain circumstances. Before buying any stroller, always check the recall lists, especially if you are purchasing a used stroller.

Once you have found a selection of that meet your safety requirements, it is time to begin thinking about your comfortable pushing requirements. A stroller should not be a hassle to push. The purpose of the stroller is to make your job easier not harder.

You should be able to reach the stroller's handles without bending down or reaching up. Paddled handles are a nice feature, since these are comfortable to use. The wheels should also be examined; these should move smoothly and not tend to stick.

Deciding on which features you need is an important step in choosing a baby stroller. For example, do you need storage compartments in your baby stroller, or will a lightweight model suit you? If you will need to use the stroller outdoors, especially on unpaved surfaces regularly, then a jogging stroller may be the best idea.

As you are choosing a baby stroller, be sure that your children's age is taken into account for purposes of choosing an appropriately sized stroller. If you already have one child and expect another, a double stroller is likely to be the best choice. There are models which are designed to accommodate one older and one younger child as well as those made for two infants.

Choosing a baby stroller can be a fairly simple task if you know what you know your needs. Narrow down your selection and try out the features of each stroller before making a final decision. Never purchase a stroller simply from its appearance in a picture on the box. It may also be a good idea to talk with friends about the strollers they use and like.
